Kelly Knox has won the title of Britains Missing top Model. Kelly Knox who was born without a left forearm, beat 7 other disabled models  to win the BBC3's, Britains Missing Top Model crown . As part of her prizes she won a modelling contract with Take 2 Model Management and a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine .

This trend started last year and now everyone  is wearing them. They were made popular by Kanye West in his Stronger Music Video and now even Paris Hilton and Ashley Simpson have been photographed wearing them.

They come in every colour of the rainbow and in clear, gold and silver varieties. They have a really cool retro 80's vibe to them. The most common design has no lenses and are mainly just for fashion. Infact, they even obstruct your vision because  of the plastic lines covering your eyes.  These glasses are definitely a HOT trend ( I must admit they do look cool) but they aren't all that functional.

So, Shutter Shades, the label responsible for the phenomena has gone back to the design room and solved this with the Shutter shades 2.0.  They have some elements of the shutter shades combined with traditional lenses, therefore you get the style of Shutter Shades with the functionality of regular shades. The Shutter Shades 2.0 are also available in a range of colors. The price is just 29.99 US or about £16.00. I actually expected them to cost more, so I think they are definitely worth the price. Below are some of the colours that the Shutter Shades 2.0 are available in. The White ones are my favourite.

London Fashion Event: Sun & Swim London 2008 is the largest Swimwear event in London.  There will be fashion shows showcasing trends for Spring/Summer 2009 .  Over 200 collections will be on display at Sun & Swim and celebrity guest such as Caprice will be in attendance. The Exhibition runs from the 27th-29th and the Beauty Confessional will be covering the event.

So as per usual stay tuned to this space as we will be bringing you a sneak preview of what will be hot in 2009!

Janice Dickinson  and her models will be returning for season 4 of the  Janice Dickinson Modelling Agency (JDMA). The show premieres on Oxygen on August 4th! Apparently in season 4 of JDMA Janice will be moving in withthe Models.

Edward Stephens

Edward Stephens is a London Lad through and through. He's got that sense of humor that the British are famous for. He's a  down to earth guy who just happens to look like he stepped out of a Calvin Klein billboard. One glance at his super fit body will make you want to invest in a gym membership.

Edward also  has a really ethnically ambiguous look. In some shots he looks Latin, In others he looks Eurasian or  even Middle Eastern. One thing for certain is that he has got loads of potential.Watch this space as big things are to be expected from Edward.  He could very well follow in the footsteps of Christian Bale or Ed Westwick.

1. Tell us a little about yourself - (where you grew up, your life - anything you wish to tell)

Hey all, I am a home grown London boy, of 21 years. Honest to god I wouldn't have it any other way, you just don't get the buzz outside of the big city. Life is changing so fast you hit this point where u decide you want to be a somebody and then just go for it, I'm still covering my losses I'm studying Biology at imperial college London, doing finals now it's seriously hard work. However, something about the modeling and acting  that I'm into at the moment , has got me all caught up and I'm loving it like you would not believe. Just filmed a show reel, and signed up to Premier, I'm hoping there is going to be a few things to say for the next year.

2. How did you get involved in modeling?

Modeling, well previously i have looked bit too young, had actually wanted to give it a go, but i always knew i wanted to do it, all part of a master plan that involved going to a London uni, pursuing modeling and then acting (without being a model slash actor lol)(hey, did Ed just make a zoolander reference?) but basically my mate got into it, I started building a portfolio and with a bit of work got signed. I am so stoked, It'll be interesting to see what kind of career i have.

3. What do you think is the biggest misconception about male models? do you live up to that misconception?

ha ha there are definitely misconceptions, people can think you are vain or conceited, I guarantee modeling is first of all not an ego building exercise, it is fascinating, but its about whether u look right for the industry not a case of "good looking" or "bad looking". I have honestly kept the whole business to myself cos as much as i would appreciate my friends support or criticism, i guess its kind of my own journey and I'm learning so much about myself doing it.

4.What is your ultimate goal as a model? What is in your future?

Lol I can't get into it and be unsuccessful that would kill me, i would love to do a few campaigns before i hang up my boots definitely, however my real passion lies in the acting, breaking Hollywood would be a dream come true, I don't know the recipe yet but I'm working on it. if I don't then its chair, desk and 9-5 for me! which i don't want.

5. Tell us about your favorite photo shoot you have done so far?

In an earlier post I promised some pictures and a review of a London fashion event i attended called, Style Me Up. So here I go. Overall the event was a success, It started a bit later than expected but you know the fashion crowd, everyone has to arrive "fashionably late" and take a million photos.  It was all fun, I met some awesome people and the atmosphere in the club was really good. I will probably visit Clerkenwell House again.

When the Fashion Showcase started there was a very strong crowd. The showcase kicked off with a collection by Xaverie. She described her collection as "Afro punk".Her collection was mainly casual wear and the clothes were a combination of modern cuts and afro-prints. There were some nice rumper suits and she also had some  really innovative linen hooded shirts.

The second designer was Aaron Ray Dowie. Now don't get me wrong but Menswear usually isn't as exciting as it female counterpart. However, Aaron stole the show and proved me wrong. His designs were innovative, quirky,fun and fresh. I could so imagine Pharell Williams or Justin Timberlake wearing  Aaron's  clothes. I cant even pick a favorite from his collection, because I liked everything he did . In addition to the suits he had some awesome Trench Coats. An interesting fact to note, is that Aaron sews all of his clothes. Definitely my Favorite of the night.

There was a short break and Two singers came to entertain. the first was Grace Obika, her sound was a cross between R&B and old school soul. She kind of reminded me of Solange Knowles new song " I decided". The second artist was Tina Marie. Her sound was described as experimental Indie Pop. Now experimental Indie pop isn't usually  the type of music I listen to but this girl had an AMAZING VOICE!!! She sure had some amazing vocals!!

  The Third Designer was DAKOU. She described her collection as Afro Centric / Bohemian Chic. I saw this collection at Wimbledon Fashion Week and I still liked it second time around. Some really cute,fun and fresh looking styles. The men's shirts were also good.

The Fourth designer was Danielle Morgan. Clothes were very fashion forward. Over sized sleeves were coupled with puffed legs. Some of the dresses had Victorian portraits around the hemline while others had iconic figures such as 'Nelson Mandela".

Last collection was Simone Williams. Her collection was classic cocktail wear.In two words  her collection was "PURE SOPHISTICATION".

After the shows ended everyone mingled and partied the night away!!!!

Cynthia Olavarria

Two weeks ago we brought you the first half of our 2 part interview with Cynthia Olavarria. If you haven't seen the first half you can check it out here.. Last time Cynthia told us about all of the projects that she has been involved in since she won Miss Puerto Rico 2005. This time she tells us about her job as a runway coach on Nuestra Belleza and she clues us in on whether or not we will ever see her compete in another international pageant. She also shares one of her Beauty secrets with us. So keep reading to find out all the info about Cynthia Olavarria.

6. You recently did Nuestra Belleza? What was that like?

Nuestra Belleza Latina is a reality show pageant competition. The contestants have a challenge every week and part of my work is to train them to be successful in those challenges. I also give them runway coaching, stage presence and beauty tips. It is important to acknowledge that we do have girls competing who have never step into a runway before, therefore it's important to give my best to each of them.

The interesting part of my role in this competition is that since this is a reality show, the way producers want them to perform is totally different from a traditional pageant. So I found myself implementing skills from my formal training as a model but also adding some "spice" to their performance. After all,  they have a specific target audience.

7. Everyone that has met you always says that you are a really nice person! Do you have any bad habits?

Thank you! I of course I have bad habits. The thing is to transform them into assets. For example, I skip on sleep because I prefer to use that time to fulfill any duties, specially my personal stuff, and that includes to wash my clothes, read book, etc... I definitely need to rest but I try to use as much time as possible to get everything done.

8. Ever since 2005 there is a rumor every year that you are participating in Miss Earth. Is there any chance of you doing another a pageant?

No and I still don't know where did that come from. I decided to compete in the Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant because my goal was to represent my Island at the Miss Universe. I did it and I'm happy with the results.

I was really blessed by having that opportunity and I want from other girls to have the chance to represent the country internationally.

London Fashion Update: The Style me up Launch party was a success! The atmosphere was great the venue was nice and cosy, the company was great ( Hi Cynthia and Tsemaye!!!), entertainment was good and the clothes were amazing. I really saw some pieces that caught my eye and I will have pictures on their way soon. I'll give a more in depth review of each designers collection later on and I will also post a gallery. Andy of Andyespin.com will be sending some great shots of the event later today so stay tuned to this blog as an update is on the way!!!

Earlier this month I made a post that I hate to see people wearing saggy jeans with bums exposed ( chronic Builders Bum). Apparently, In flint Michigan you could face time in prison if you wear saggy pants. Offenders could face 93 days to 1 year in prison or a fine of upto $500. i think this diagram is hilarious. They should enforce this Law in London. Someone needs to ban women from wearing low rise jeans with thongs showing. Thats another fad that I hope will just die. It looks dreadful

London Fashion Update: Styleme-up.com will be launching officially on the 19th of July 2008 at Clerkenwell House. The launch will consist of style/beauty workshops, networking and a fashion show. The fashion exhibition will feature the designers in our online directory such as Simone Williams, Nkwo Onwuka, Dakou Clothing, BotiLam, Nubian Roots and Aaron Ray Dowie.

Style Me Up's  purpose is "is to bring together people in the fashion and creative industry, recognize their contributions and to showcase the talent of up and coming fashion designers" Beauty Confessional will be attending the event and will bring you pictures from the show.

I had earlier made a post about Miss USA falling at Miss Universe so I think Its only fair that I make a post about the winner of the competition Dayana Mendoza beat 79 Ladies form around the world to win the crown of Miss Universe 2008. The 22 year old model was signed with Elite Model Management and modeled in Italy, France, United States, England, Greece, Spain, Germany, Mexico and Peru .She has modeled for Versace.

The show was hosted by Jerry Springer and Mel B of the Spice Girls and featured special performances from Lady Gaga. Overall it had  a very Victoria Secret feel to the show.

Last year Rachel Smith , Miss USA 2007 slipped and fell at the Miss Universe Pageant. The Pageant is watched by almost 1 billion people worldwide.  They say that lightning never strikes twice in the same place. However, it struck twice tonight!  1 year after Rachel's fall, Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart also fell  on her bum during the evening gown segment of Miss Universe 2008.

Is there a Miss USA curse? Hopefully next years Miss USA will be able to stand her ground . I really thought This year's Miss USA would have had a good chance at winning if she hadnt fallen. She did recover well though.

The "Know your limits" campaign is a government ad campaign aimed at getting young people to moderate the  amount that they  drink. It starts out like a regular fashion show. First model comes out and pees at the end of the runway then the next model pukes and the third model  attacks  the forth model in a drunk happy slapping rage. Thread ends with this slogan : "you wouldn't start a night like this, so why end it that way? Its quite..um graphic.  One thing for sure is that it  will definitely get attention, it really does rank highly on the gross meter.

Fellow blogger, Catwalk Queen seems to agree that this ad kinda  oversteps the limits  of grossness. However, the fact that we have both taken the time to blog about it probably means that the ad was hugely successful at getting its message across. People will definitely betalking about this ad around the watercooler ( or wherever they stop and talk lol)
