British  style magazine, Dazed & Confused has dedicated  January, to British Youth. They asked their readers “What does it mean to you to be young and British today?”  They received over 400 submissions in 10 days. In the Youth Issue, they present 30 of the best stories written by young, British teenagers.

Fashion photographer, Hedi Slimane shot a 34 page fashion editorial for the magazine. The issue has two covers one featuring a girl named Jessie and the other featuring Louis Simonon. Louis is the son of Paul Simonon from punk band, The Clash. He also recently appeared in a campaign for Prada that was also shot by Hedi Slimane.

If I see him in another magazine or campaign I'll have to give him his own category on this blog.

The Credit Crunch strikes again!  As i said earlier this week i expect several fashion retailers to fall victim to the credit crunch , unfortunately  I was right . The UK’s largest branded clothing retailer USC has gone into administration today and will close 15 of its 58 stores. USC is the second clothing retailer in a week to go into administration following menswear retailer, Officers Club. USC stocks brands such as Diesel, Fred Perry, Fiorelli, Gio Goi, Ted Baker , Mischa Barton , Lily Kitten and many others.

A spokesperson for the company told the Times

“The survival of the core business could only be secured through this deal. Ultimately, we had to ask ourselves what’s better, the loss of 15 stores or all 58? The answer was unequivocal. “

Officers Club to close 32 branches

 Daisy Lowe must be one of the most popular  "It Girls" in London.  She has some of the coolest family members, Gavin Rossdale is her dad, Pearl Lowe is her mum and to top that off her step mother is Gwen Stefani.  Plus she is the only "celeb model" that I think actually think could have a modelling career even if she didnt have famous parents. The images of her in the Spring Summer 2009 campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs have just found their way online so Daisy's cool  quotient has just moved up a notch.

However, I am not really a big fan of the campaign. Its a bit strange considering that I like Marc Jacobs. Juergen Teller and Daisy Lowe but I dont like the photo used in the campaign. What do you think?

Kate Winslet is on the February 2009 cover of Elle Magazine looking better than she has looked in the past ten years. Wow!! She is looking better at 33 then she did ten years ago when she was in the box office smash, Titanic.

In her second single from her new album, Beyonce Sasha Fierce is once again wearing more Gareth Pugh. Britian is the birthplace of fierce and edgy so Beyonce choosing Gareth for her Sasha Fierce persona is a good match.

 I am not sure who did the fringed glasses yet, maybe its Lorraine Schwartz who designed the metal glove she wore in her "Single Ladies" video.

Hugo Boss can now be added to the list of Fashion houses to collaborate with phone manufacturers.

Prada and Giorgio Armani have both previously  released branded phones. For this collaboration Hugo Boss teamed up with Samsung. The new Hugo Boss Handset is based on the The new Hugo Boss  phone is based on the Samsung F480 handset. The phone will retail for 479€ (or about £460/$677). Its a great cross promotion for both companies. However,  as the phone is almost identical to the F480 this phone is only worth getting if you want a luxury branded cell phone.

The specs are as follows: 5 mpx camera, 2.8″ touchscreen, 3G/HSDPA connectivity

Designer Christian Audigier is most well known for  his work with Von Dutch and his Luxury streetwear label, Ed Hardy.

Christian Audigier can now add Lamborghini to his resume. He  has teamed up  with the Edo Competition to create a special version of the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 called the Audigier LP710.  The car is a limited edition and only five of the Luxury sports car will be released.

The cars feature the signature style  that Audigier uses on his Ed Hardy clothing line.

Today I  left home at 7:00 AM  and went to the NEXT mid season sale.  At first I went to a nearby shopping centre  but unfortunately my local center has  a really small NEXT store and by the time i got there the store looked like a wasteland. So, i quickly hopped on the tube and went down to Oxford Street.  I managed to get some really good deals the only drawback  was having to wait in line for over an hour but that was expected  as sales like this only happen once a year.

My main reason for writing this post was to highlight something I noticed  while out shopping.  On the way to Oxford Street i passed two  branches  of Men's retailer Officers Club that were having HUGE closing down sales. Earlier this week I noticed another two branches of Officers Club were having closing down sales. That brings the total of branches that I have seen closing down this week to 4.

I decided to do a bit of Investigating to see if the entire chain was going out of business. According to the Daily Mail:

"Men's fashion chain The Officers Club was last night the latest British retailer to fall into administration… PricewaterhouseCoopers took charge of the company, axing 280 jobs and shutting down 32 of its 150 stores with immediate effect. "

Another 15 high street  chains are at risk of completely closing down due to the credit crunch. Only time will tell if any of the big High Street Stores will be affected

I almost missed this cover. British Model of the year, Jourdan Dunn was the cover model for the December 2008 issue of Elle France. Ever since her Cover of Vogue Italia's Black Issue, the 18 year old supermodel has landed cover after including a cover of British Vogue back in November and Pop and ID covers.

Agyness Deyn  hadn’t been as active in 2008 as she was in 2007. However, in 2007 she has returned to prominence. Agyness is on the cover Korean Vogue  styled as fashion Icon Marilyn Monroe. In February she will also be on the cover of Numero Tokyo. On the cover she is dressed in balmain and  she returns to her usual punk/ high fashion look.

The LVMH  Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy jewellery brand, Fred has chosen Kate Moss for their new ad campaign. She will star along  French actor Melvil Poupaud. The campaign was shot by Patrick Demarchelier . Kate Moss replaces French actress  Audrey Marnay. Audrey did the company’s campaign last year. In an interview with WWD a representative  from the company explained why Kate Moss has replaced Audrey-

“We needed a more international icon that would resonate across all our markets, in particular Asia,”

Magazine Editor/Writer/Model/Designer/Socialite/DJ ( forgive me if i have forgotten any of her careers as she has had so many), Peaches Geldof will be  launching her second collection for PPQ. After the success of the first capsule line, she will be  launching a  more affordable second line at high street prices.

The second line will debut in Spring.

PPQ designer Percy Parker told Heatworld:

 “We had a meeting to discuss expanding the range. We're going to make it a lot more accessible, in different shops around the country and on the Internet. It's going to be much more accessible, but not as cheap as Topshop.”
