Sienna Miller is Nylon's latest cover girl. She is the star of their August issue. I  am not a huge Sienna Miller fan,  so my opinions on this cover aren't biased. I think Sienna looks great, I actually prefer how she looks on this cover than  her  September 2007 Vogue cover. The edgy style treatment that she has been given by Nylon really suits her .

Canvas totes are once again a  big fad. Even Karl Lagerfeld  recently wore one. Topshop has also  realized the popularity of canvas totes and has created 3 very cute designs. According to their blog, when ever you purchase anything from Topshop.com,  Topshop will give you a  free canvas tote (while stocks last). I really like these totes they are high on the cute factor.

Fashion, is all  about the latest trends for the season. As Heidi Klum would say ” You’re either In or you’re out”. UK based,  CoutureLab breaks the mold of most fashion sites it’s a season-less, trend-less, consortium of creatives  from around the world of fashion. Instead of following trends the site brings together unique pieces , that are the pinnacle of craftsmanship and beauty.

I was over on Couturelab and I saw the most beautiful hand embroidered jackets. They were designed by Indian based designer Rohit Bal. His collections are world renowned and his garments have been worn by Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. I love when designers  incorporate traditional cultural elements into modern clothing. Its almost like the clothes transcend culture and geographical space.

Sacha Cohen (Bruno) isn’t the only Brit in the July issue of GQ. Ed Westwick is  featured in a  fashion spread  modelling a preview of  the Autumn Winter menswear offerings from luxury labels such as Rag & Bone, Burberry Prorsum, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada. The Gossip Girl star who plays TV’s most stylish villain is looking certifiably debonaire in this shoot. You have probably realized but I am obsessed with Gossip Girl. The clothes on the show are amazing. I particularly like Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick). Chuck is the pinnacle of style and fashion.

I have one criticism for GQ. If Robert Patterson and  Zac Efron can have GQ covers, why cant Ed?

 The first image from Lily Allen’s Chanel Coco Cocoon handbag ad campaign shot by Karl Lagerfeld has appeared on oh-lily.com (and NO!!! I do not usually visit Lily Allen fansites).  The ads arent half bad. She stars alongside Karl Lagerfelds current sidekick/muse Baptiste Giabiconi.

If I didnt dislike Lily Allen this would actually be a good ad campaign. I just get tired of seeing her starting online fights on twitter, feuding off other celebs, partying and chiming in on every social issue that has absolutely nothing to do with her.

More of the Jaeger Autumn Winter 2009/2010  campaign photos have surfaced online. the images were shot in London at the iconic  Somerset House and feature model of the moment Lara Stone and Jon Kortajarena.  I see these ads as the rebirth of Jaeger.  If these images are any indication of whats to come  then I am really  looking to forward to their show at London Fashion Week. Ironically London fashion week will take place at the same location these photos were shot.

  Art & Fashion photography are two areas that I find very captivating. Artist John Paul Thurlow, has combined  both areas with his new project.  John-Paul Thurlow plans to “retrace” the past by recreating  his favourite covers in lead and ink. So far he has  recreated over 70 covers. He has drawn the covers of Nova, Vogue, 10 Magazine, V Magazine and Dazed & Confused.

(To the left) John-Paul has paid homage to iconic  model, Twiggy. Below are more cover re-inventions featuring Grace Jones and Kate Moss.

David Gandy must be the only male model that is a household name. After that infamous Dolce & Gabanna "Light Blue" ad  he was catapulted onto the radar of most British Women. He even placed 3rd on Forbe's List of the most successful male models. The British male supermodel is in the new FreeSoul Autumn Winter 2009-10 campaign alongside Cameron Russell.

  Apparently baby's are the new model accessory of 2009. Gisele Bundchen, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima and Heidi Klum are all pregnant. Now Vogue has revealed that British Model of the Year, Jourdan Dunn is also pregnant.

Vogue posted an artcle titled "Expecting In Style: What The Pregnant Jourdan Should wear this fall?" thus announcing Jourdan's pregnancy to the world. Apparently the 19 year old is expecting her baby in December.

Magazines have been dropping like flies since the  credit crunch started.  We have seen mags like Arena disappear from store shelves and almost  all magazines  have reduced their number of advertising pages. I always thought that the on line publications were safe from the claws of the credit crunch.

Unfortunately it seems i was wrong…YIKES!!!  I have been visiting catwalkqueen for the past few days and i noticed that it is not being updated.  The site is usually updated every weekday but the last update was on Tuesday. This really got me wondering what had happened because they hadn’t posted about the site going on hiatus

Today i read on the Daily Telegraph’s website that Shiny Media the parent company behind CatwalkQueen has gone into administration.  It seems the no one is safe from the credit crunch. Hopefully, catwalkqueen will make its return to  blogosphere. Shinymedia also owns Brandish, Shoewawa and Trashionista and many  other popular fashion blogs.

UPDATE:

IsabelleOC from Catwalk has  posted about CatwalkQueen and Brandish’s dissapearance from the blogosphere.

“It came as a bit of a shock, but Catwalk Queen is no more, for now at least.

Shiny Media went into administration on Friday, which means menswear site Brandish is also on hiatus. It’s no surprise that UK blogging companies were feeling both the effects of a recession and a more reticent advertising market than in the US.”

Daisy Lowe is in the new Anna Sui Autumn Winter 2009/2010 campaign. She recently walked for Anna at NY fashion week. The image reminds me of vintage russian themed high fashion.

In addition to her campaigns Daisy  has a new show on the horizon. She will star in an MTV reality show called “Daisy Lowe in 24 hours“. It’s a behind the scenes look at the wild child/It girl/ model and it’s on MTV this week  .

 Earlier this week we posted the video for the new Pull and Bear campaign. Here are the first shots from the  Pull and Bear Autumn/ Winter print campaign. You’ve got to love the plaid/tartan. I also like how they have used denim in the collection. I love the farm chic look of the clothes. It’s a collision of  smallville and  fashion.

PS. If anyone from Pull & Bear is reading this I wouldn’t  be impartial to some free samples.

Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Susan Boyle Fanatic!!!! This woman is fierce ( even Richard Gray from 10 Magazine thinks she is FIERCE!!) I LOVE this woman!!! I cant wait for the Susan Boyle Movie, biography, Album etc… Today she did an interview with Meredith Viera where she revealed she will be in a fashion spread in Harper’s Bazaar next month.

 
This  new  image for Jaeger’s Autumn/Winter campaign has just popped up on the fashion spot. Its nice to see the restoration of Jaeger, one of the most quintessentially British Fashion labels.  Its got a very “Upper East side” feel to the campaign. The campaign stars Lara Stone and Jon Kortajarena.

The guys ( and gals) over at the Design Scene Blog have even commented “that the campaign is channeling the Manhattan elite, move over Chuck Bass of Gossip Girl, Mr Kortajarena is here”.  Although we think Lara and Jon are doing big city glamour very well, we think we’ll stick with Chuck Bass …because he’s British and we are just a bit biased (PS. We are British).
