We had the opportunity to chat with budding Welsh photographer, Sophie Pycroft, whose work I stumbled across by chance. Her style is bold and striking. She is mostly self taught but this summer she will be moving to London to study for an MA in fashion photography at Central St.Martins LCF, where she fill further hone her skills. She is definitely one to watch out for in the future. Check out the Interview After the Jump!
1.How did you get your start in photography and what do you hope to achieve?
I started in photography in Sixth Form, nearly 5 years ago, and really enjoyed it. I had a fantastic and enthusiastic teacher, who had worked in the fashion industry alongside people like David Bailey, so they were my first inspiration. I eventually want my work to be internationally recognized and published!
2.Which iconic photographer inspires you the most?
I've got favourite photographers from every era, but love experimental photographers such as Nick Knight, and people who have a theatrical approach like Tim Walker.
3.What has been your favorite shoot thus far?
My favourite shoots are yet to come! But so far it might be the one with the ducks and birds nests hair pieces, it was a fun sunny day, and easy to shoot. I also loved the futuristic robot shoot
4.Have you worked with anyone famous?
I've done a few celebrity head shots, but I look at everyone through the same lens, so they are all just different models.
