Yesterday the guys all agreed that Paul Costelloe's collection was genius. Today I gave them another collection to analyze. This time the guys will be looking at images from hairdresser turned designer, Charlie Le Mindu. I wonder if they will agree on a more controversial avant garde designer?
3 regular guys who think that Gareth Pugh is the name of a river in Scotland.
James from Lewes -"Where are the clothes? It is all a bit freaky. The first picture looks like Cousin IT crossed with a styled Busby with hair extensions. The silhouettes and make up are appealing, but the only thing I could see selling on the high street are the bag and gloves in the fourth picture which are quite cool. I love the fury shoulder jacket and choker in the second picture, but it is all a bit Lady Gaga."
Steve from London- "Wow. Interesting. The hair on the first model looks like a bearskin they've borrowed from the Welsh Guards! I LOVE the royal blue lipstick which features throughout, especially with the lighter blue eye make up. Very interesting and eye catching collection."
Nish from London – "These are quite reminiscent of the Birds of paradise. Love the feathery/furred outfit; it is perhaps the most appealing piece from the collection. The other outfits look like they would require regular grooming, not to mention all the stray hairs one would be leaving behind as unnecessary souvenirs, making you a very unpopular house guest. The outfits seem more apt in the dimension of visual merchandising. Would love to see someone try walking down the high street with one of those on, be careful, you might get poached. Impractical for regular apparel, although I suspect that was never the intention, perfect for Halloween."

3 menswear fashion bloggers that know their D&G from their Dolce & Gabanna.
Dennis from WWIT – "Although i can appreciate the theatrical element in Mindu's dark collection, i do question whether it's wearability and emphasis on all things macabre will attract people like myself. Last A/W, most collections were dark and reflected the economic status, but now I think people want to be positive and embrace that we are slowly coming out of recession. So, in that sense i do wonder how people will react to a collection that'll take them back. Makes for a great show no doubt."
Cillian from Male Mode – "While I love all the trappings of the avant-garde, this collection is unwearable in any context other than a club (with a fetishistic leaning). Not sure if that's horsehair or human hair but, regardless, it's hair of some sort and, therefore, not fit for fashion. This collection tries too hard to achieve provocative, and so ends up more prostitute."
Jacob from Fashionbeans – "I love how surreal this collection is. It’s like a dark twisted fairy tale, full of hairy beings. The huge headpieces ‘for me’ are the stars of the show and I am all over this current movement of using Human hair."

The CONCLUSION: From the guys opinions it is obvious that there is disparity within the groups. Some guys loved the collection while others gave it a scathing review while others looked at the negative and the positive. However I am moreso drawn to Dennis and Nish's reviews. Both guys noted that the collection made for an amazing visual masterpiece but scored low in wearability. However, they both mention that Charlie Le Mindu's show is about creating a dramatic spectacle rather than catering to wearability.
So which side do you agree with the Fashionistos or the Regular Joes?
