French Connection Autumn Winter 2010 2011

The French Connection Autumn Winter 2010 2011 ad campaign was released this past week.  This season they have gone for a simple campaign where the clothes are the stars of the ads. I am not sure who the model or the photographer of the campaign is. If anyone knows send an email to info@beautyconfessional.net or post in the comments. A preview of the French Connection Autumn Winter 2010 2011 menswear collection will be posted soon.

Diesel Ads Banned in UK

Diesel be stupid ads banned

Diesel loves to create a stir. Last season they had scantily clad greased up models for their Sex Sells campaign. This time they've gone a step further and two of their latest ads have been banned by the United Kingdom Advertising Standards Board as they think Diesel's ‘Be Stupid’ campaign is "indecent and for promotes anti-social behaviour".

The two ads in question feature a model pointing a camera down her pants while another shows a woman flashing a surveillance camera. Diesel have defended the ads and said that they 'did not contain any provocative nudity beyond the usual amounts shown in many swimwear, sportswear or lingerie ads'.

French Connection SS 2010: This is the Man

05 February 2010 1 Comment

FC_01_076_F4A

Men have lost the ungentle art of manliness. The man in the street doesn’t know what to bring to a knife fight. He gets nervous around large fish. He can’t tie a full Windsor. Men have forgotten how to snap a bra open with a click of their fingers – women are undoing their own bras to save time! Meanwhile guys are eating little portions of leaves and putting too much gel in their hair. They are wearing t-shirts with dope leaves and robots on them when they are over 22 years-old. - French Connection Manifesto

The French Connection SS2010 campaign is one of the brands strongest for many season. The campaign is titled "This is the Man".  "The Man" embodies a classic, tough, handsome and intelligent persona. I particularly like the image below  and I its one of my favourites ads this season. its the right mixture of machismo and simplicity.

I have seen some shots from the lookbooks and the clothes are just as amazing as the ads so stay tuned as we will soon post images from the French Connection menswear and womenswear lookbooks.

French Connection SS 2010: This is the Woman

05 February 2010 2 Comments

French Connection Spring Summer 2010

This is the woman for French Connection Spring/Summer 2010 -"She is knowing we are looking at her".

French Connection has just launched their Spring Summer 2010  campaign and we have got the  exclusive photos for you. I'm loving the the  new campaign. Fror SS2010 French Connection has relied soloely upon what made the brand is famous - the clothes.

The French Connection Woman is feminine, nonchalant, sassy and chic.  The shots are beautifully simple and really focus on the product, while French Connection’s trademark touch of subtle humour is stamped on the images with witty irreverent captions in ‘Franglais’ – English with a cheeky French twist.

STella McCartney spring SUmmer 2010 dalmations

Natalia Vodianova stars as the face of Stella McCartney's Spring Summer 2010 campaign. Last season Stella McCartney's campaign featured animated Disney Animals this season features an actual dalmation. I love the  shot of Natalia but  I am not sure what to make of the huge Dalmation in the background.

Luke Worrall NEw Look

I'm really surprised to see Luke Worrall in the SS 2010 New Look campaign. It is a lot edgier than what I would have expected from New Look. Kudos to whoever styled this shoot.  Its got a fun, fresh, youthful vibe.

A few weeks ago rumours popped up online that Taylor Momsen was the new face of New Looks Spring Summer campaign. Now that the menswear ads have been released it wont be long until womens ads are revealed.Luke Worrall NEw Look 2

Alexander mcqueen spring summer 2010

I still haven't figured out which is more dangerous, the dozens of snakes that Raquel Zimmerman is covered in or those 12 inch heels she's wearing. I'll have to call this one a draw. This is the first shot of the Alexander McQueen SS 2010  campaign that was shot by Nick Knight .

Jaeger by Jaeger SS10 lookbook

Jpg_cmyk_high_37296_SS10_W_JBJ_62

What's the first thing you think of when you hear  the phrase "Iconic British Brand"?..Probably Burberry. but if these shots from the Jaeger by Jaeger Spring Summer 2010 lookbook are any indication that title also perfectly fits Jaeger. Under the direction of Stuart Stockdale,  The Jaeger brand has seen a strong resurgence. Stuart Stockdale is also credited with revitalising the Pringle of Scotland brand when he  desgned for the brand between 2000 and 2005. It should come as no surprise that  he has also had a similar impact at Jaeger.

These images are from the lookbook for the Jaeger by Jaeger Capsule collection. The limited edition 18-piece collection, delves into the brand’s rich heritage. Taking inspiration from standout archive pieces, Jaeger by Jaeger recreates some of the house’s most iconic pieces, while adding a fresh spin in terms of innovative design tweaks, fabrication and finish.

Megan Fox Heats up the Emporio Armani Underwear campaign

16 January 2010 1 Comment

Megan fox armani underwear

Women everywhere should hate Megan Fox. What are the odds that someone so beautiful also has an amazing body? Im guessing they are really low. I wasn't overly impressed with the first set of pics of Megan Fox in the Emporio Armani Underwear campaign but these new images are smoking. Only one criticism. I wish they had photoshopped out the tattoo of Marilyn Monroe, as much as I like Marilyn , I think it looks a bit tacky.

Cristiano Ronaldo for Emporio Armani Underwear part 2

Cristiano ronaldo armani underwear wet underwear

Here our even more pics from Cristiano Ronaldo's Emporio Armani Underwear campaign. They are less posey than the first images that came out. There is even a pic of Cristiano Ronaldo wearing a white pair of manties while water is splashed on him.  Yes, you heard right, hes wearing wet white underwear. Isn't there some rule against that somewhere? Than again no ones complaining.

The BFC / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund

12 January 2010 No Comments

AJLookbook8 Earlier this week  I posted about River Island nurturing design talent by sponsoring  Graduate fashion week and  by championing the River Island design forum.

Now the British Fashion Council/ Vogue Designer Fashion Fund nominees have been announced. The  £200,000 programme supports Britain's young design talent both financially and  by offering them expert  business advice from industry professionals and was created by Vogue and the British Fashion Council.

I am proud to say that Angel Jackson, a brand we have featured on this blog numerous times is on the list of nominees. Accessories brand Angel Jackson, is nominated alongside Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll, Erdem, Marios Schwab, Clements Ribeiro, bespoke tailor E.Tautz and  shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood .

Good Luck Angel Jackson.. I hope the label wins.

Emma Watson Interviewed during Burberry Spring Summer 2010 shoot

11 January 2010 No Comments

Another video from Emma Watson's Spring Summer 2010 Burberry campaign has emerged. I am big fan of Emma Watson because shes one of very few young female stars who aren't totally off the rails crazy. She's also using her style icon status appropriately. I really respect the fact that she hasn't brought out a clothing line as I am tiring of celeb clothing lines. Especially when we all know that they usually have very little to do with design process. Instead she has aligned herself with the most quintessential British Brand. Its a match made in style heaven. I think its time that the gods of fashion (Anna Wintour, Alexandra Shulman, Franco Sozzani and Carine Roitfeld) should give Emma her first Vogue cover.

Designer to Die For: Aaron Ray Dowie

05 January 2010 No Comments

Debonair, sophisticated, classy are all words that define the quintessential British Gentleman. These words are also synonymous with Designer Aaron Ray Dowie.  I first saw his work two years ago and I was really impressed by the sophisticated yet quirky aesthetic.  I usually don't find menswear collections as exciting as  womenswear but Aaron's craftsmanship and style really blew me away. His current collection is a tribute to the classic British gentleman with a modern twist.

"It was all based around my accrued knowledge in tailoring, from working at many of Savile Rows classic tailors. Also through searching through family archives and finding that the Dowie family had tailors many generations ago led me to design a strong heritage feel to the collection."- Aaron Ray Dowie

Aaron has also revealed to me that his new collection will be based around Winston Churchill. Bow ties and military are themes that run through as well as classic double breasted coats. Wonderfully British!!!

The Worst ad of 2009

04 January 2010 2 Comments

I was looking at all of the ads for 2009 and two stand out as being particularly bad.  The first is an ad for a hair product that sounds like an ad for erectile dysfunction. Who describes hair as "weak, limp and lifeless" and talks about geeting back your mojo, It really, really bad. Im a big Cheryl Cole fan and  I think she's stunning but even I cant pretend this ad is good. I was almost gonna call this the worst ad of 2009 but then I changed my mind becuase I  remembered an ad so bad that I tried to shut it out of my mind.

The worst ad of 2009  without a doubt has to be Lindsay Lohan's ad for Fornarina. It looks inspired by 80's arcade games. They may have been cool in 1984 but  not in 2009. I have never seen an ad that is so annoying before and Lindsay looks absolutely mortifying. The funny thing is she probably got paid a ton of money to say "click, flash, wow, bang wink smack Fornarina splash smash crash glam pink heart Fornarina". This ad is a total mess. Even Stefano Pilati, creative director of Yves Saint Laurent thinks that Lindsay is a mess.

"She is one of those who make fashion be a mess" - Stefano Pilati

I couldnt have said it any better. Infact, I would go as far  as to say that this might be the worst ad of all time.
