Edward Stephens

Edward Stephens is a London Lad through and through. He's got that sense of humor that the British are famous for. He's a  down to earth guy who just happens to look like he stepped out of a Calvin Klein billboard. One glance at his super fit body will make you want to invest in a gym membership.

Edward also  has a really ethnically ambiguous look. In some shots he looks Latin, In others he looks Eurasian or  even Middle Eastern. One thing for certain is that he has got loads of potential.Watch this space as big things are to be expected from Edward.  He could very well follow in the footsteps of Christian Bale or Ed Westwick.

1. Tell us a little about yourself - (where you grew up, your life - anything you wish to tell)

Hey all, I am a home grown London boy, of 21 years. Honest to god I wouldn't have it any other way, you just don't get the buzz outside of the big city. Life is changing so fast you hit this point where u decide you want to be a somebody and then just go for it, I'm still covering my losses I'm studying Biology at imperial college London, doing finals now it's seriously hard work. However, something about the modeling and acting  that I'm into at the moment , has got me all caught up and I'm loving it like you would not believe. Just filmed a show reel, and signed up to Premier, I'm hoping there is going to be a few things to say for the next year.

2. How did you get involved in modeling?

Modeling, well previously i have looked bit too young, had actually wanted to give it a go, but i always knew i wanted to do it, all part of a master plan that involved going to a London uni, pursuing modeling and then acting (without being a model slash actor lol)(hey, did Ed just make a zoolander reference?) but basically my mate got into it, I started building a portfolio and with a bit of work got signed. I am so stoked, It'll be interesting to see what kind of career i have.

3. What do you think is the biggest misconception about male models? do you live up to that misconception?

ha ha there are definitely misconceptions, people can think you are vain or conceited, I guarantee modeling is first of all not an ego building exercise, it is fascinating, but its about whether u look right for the industry not a case of "good looking" or "bad looking". I have honestly kept the whole business to myself cos as much as i would appreciate my friends support or criticism, i guess its kind of my own journey and I'm learning so much about myself doing it.

4.What is your ultimate goal as a model? What is in your future?

Lol I can't get into it and be unsuccessful that would kill me, i would love to do a few campaigns before i hang up my boots definitely, however my real passion lies in the acting, breaking Hollywood would be a dream come true, I don't know the recipe yet but I'm working on it. if I don't then its chair, desk and 9-5 for me! which i don't want.

Cynthia Olavarria

Two weeks ago we brought you the first half of our 2 part interview with Cynthia Olavarria. If you haven't seen the first half you can check it out here.. Last time Cynthia told us about all of the projects that she has been involved in since she won Miss Puerto Rico 2005. This time she tells us about her job as a runway coach on Nuestra Belleza and she clues us in on whether or not we will ever see her compete in another international pageant. She also shares one of her Beauty secrets with us. So keep reading to find out all the info about Cynthia Olavarria.

6. You recently did Nuestra Belleza? What was that like?

Nuestra Belleza Latina is a reality show pageant competition. The contestants have a challenge every week and part of my work is to train them to be successful in those challenges. I also give them runway coaching, stage presence and beauty tips. It is important to acknowledge that we do have girls competing who have never step into a runway before, therefore it's important to give my best to each of them.

The interesting part of my role in this competition is that since this is a reality show, the way producers want them to perform is totally different from a traditional pageant. So I found myself implementing skills from my formal training as a model but also adding some "spice" to their performance. After all,  they have a specific target audience.

7. Everyone that has met you always says that you are a really nice person! Do you have any bad habits?

Thank you! I of course I have bad habits. The thing is to transform them into assets. For example, I skip on sleep because I prefer to use that time to fulfill any duties, specially my personal stuff, and that includes to wash my clothes, read book, etc... I definitely need to rest but I try to use as much time as possible to get everything done.

8. Ever since 2005 there is a rumor every year that you are participating in Miss Earth. Is there any chance of you doing another a pageant?

No and I still don't know where did that come from. I decided to compete in the Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant because my goal was to represent my Island at the Miss Universe. I did it and I'm happy with the results.

I was really blessed by having that opportunity and I want from other girls to have the chance to represent the country internationally.

Part 1

It's been 3 years since you won Miss Puerto Rico Universe. What have you been up to?

Many things have happened since I won Miss Puerto Rico Universe!!! I'm still in the public eye by doing advertising campaigns, music videos, TV hosting and acting. After I crowned my successor I had the chance to visit many countries including Indonesia, Costa Rica, Belize, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Spain to be a judge in several international pageants and to host events. I made my theatrical debut in a play called "La Princesa de los Ojos Tristes",appeared in Victor Manuelle and Sin Bandera's musical video "Maldita Suerte", starred "Mi Adorada Malena", Univision.com first online novella and received the International Model Ambassador Award at the Chicago Latino Fashion Week. In both 2007 and 2008 I joined Mexican personality, Fernando Allende to host the Miss World PR pageant, I also was the runway coach for the Nuestra Belleza Latina (Univision's Reality Show) contestants and became the official presenter of Telemundo'sTv Show "Decisiones".

2 .What projects do you have planned for the future?

I am definitely doing what I love; being part of the entertainment industry. I started in this as a child when I hosted a TV show for kids in Puerto Rico. I also have college preparation in the field since I've earned a degree in Mass Communications. Therefore, I will definitely continue in this arena. I feel love and respect my career; hence my future plans revolve around improving my skills in each of the areas that I am focusing in: hosting and acting. Of course, I have other projects that I'm involved at the moment such as publishing my first book during the next year.

3. Tell us about your involvement with the Elite Model Competition.

Elite Model Competition was my very first formal experience in modeling. It definitely changed my life in many ways. Regardless I wasn't the winner (I was the Second Place) that year, it gave me a lot of modeling opportunities both, locally and internationally. It also helps me to understand the industry from another perspective and, of course, to be more disciplined.

4. Have you been keeping up with this years Miss Universe Pageant? Who are your favorites?

Yes!! This is the first time since my year that I have the chance to follow Miss Universe. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I've met three of the delegates that I consider to be Front Runners: Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela. The list of my favorites contestants also include the delegates from Mexico, Panama, USA, India, Thailand, Norway, Dominican Republic, Australia, Vietnam, Kosovo, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa...
