Scottish Fashion Awards 2010 Nominees – Where’s Susan Boyle?

08 May 2010 1 Comment

The nominees for the fifth annual Scottish Fashion Awards have been announced. VOGUE.com will once again be the headline sponsor for the event and it will take place on June 20 at the Glasgow Science Centre.

There aren't many surprises on the list of nominess but I would have liked to have seen Susan Boyle nominated for the Fashion Icon Award.  Yes, I'm still victim to Subo-mania. Shes' proved how you can go from a fashion zero to hero in such a short period of time. Im not the only person who loves Subo's style.  Richard Gray, (formerly of 10 Magazine) Online Editor of the Sunday Times Style Magazine said "she wears some lovely beads. And that hair: FIERCE!". That's a major endorsement in my books.

The full list of nominees is below.

Rankin shoots wags for Umbro’s World Champions Collection

Umbro champions collection
Vanity Fair recently subjected us to their cover featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba , wearing nothing but their manties ( I'm sure there weren't many women complaining). Umbro is obviously  into equal opportunities because they have  realeased a video for the guys, as their campaign for the World Cup collection features the Wives and Girlfriends of Footballers. The wags in the campaign are Luli Fernandez, Susana Werner, Zaira Nara, Abbey Clancy, Charlene Suric, Alice Bregoli and Julia Gödicke. The represent Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, England, France, Italy and Germany respectively. They were all shot by British Photographer Rankin.
Below the jump is footage of Britains Next Top Model alum, Abby Clancy modelling the new Umbro collection. Continue Reading

Beyonce channels Bettie Page for “Why don’t you love me?” video

05 May 2010 1 Comment

Beyonce has just released the music video for her new single, “Why Don’t You Love Me?” and shes picking up right where Telephone left off. She is still sporting her Bettie Page, pinup-inspired look. Except this time  she is blonde and she is really pushing the retro pin-up style to the limit.

The video looks like it was shot on 8mm film straight from the 1960's. “Why Don’t You Love Me?”  shows Beyonce talking to her love interest while she is dressed to death  and emulating all of the iconic pin-up girls.

Emilio Pucci: Milan Fashion Week Womenswear A/W 2010

Anna Wintour, editor of the American Vogue, recently auctioned  off a week at Vogue ( yes there are people willing to pay to work at Vogue) for a whopping £28,000 ($42,500). The proceeds from the auction  will benefit the RFK Center. The week will be specially tailored to the individual interests and skill set of the auction winner. The winner will also get to attend a fashion show during New York Fashion Week. DO you think a week of working at Vogue  is worth £28,000?.. because there's someone out there who does. Apparently just being near Anna Wintour will make you chic so maybe that was the buyers plan, to get some chic-ness by association.
