Here is the video from the Marios Schwab show. I have to say I think this is one of the best shows I have seen out of London Fashion Week.lots of rich colours with a very high end feel to the collection.Black, White, Red ,Green, and Fuschia were the main colours in the collection. The whole collection was very form fitting and was very flattering to the female form. He also made usage of marbling and paneling and the collection was said to be inspired by crystals. Overall, I have to say this show was probably the best show at LFW.
Topshop posted a video of Marios talking about his Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection. Check out the video below

Here is a youtube video of British Fashion designer, Alexander Mcqueen's 2009 Fall Winter menswear collection. Overall I give the show an A-. The presentation was great. The Show was a mix of debonaire meets Jack the ripper. Reminded me of early 20th century style, not that I was alive in the early 20th century.
Most of the pieces were very wearable, except for some that had a molded crotch piece. I really cant imagine that piece off the catwalk but the rest of the collection was impeccable.

Men's fashion week is currently going on in Milan. Here are some pics from British design house Burberry. Burberry has gone back to basics with classic cuts, trench coats pinstrips and plaid. Its very reminiscent of their aestetique in the 90's. Also of note was Burberry's usage of little neck ties that almost looked like victorian style cravats. I definitely think Designer Christopher Bailey has delivered with this collection.
Could the cravat become a trend? Below are two Cravat style ties. Image source

Last night in Miami, Florida the Victoria's Secret show was filmed. The show was dominated by the Brazilian models with 7 of the 35 models hailing from Brazil. Only one British girl was in the line-up for this year's show. That girl was Rosie Huntington Whiteley. For the second year running she was cast for the Victoria's Secret show. Not many British models get picked for this show, probably because VS usually looks for girls who can exude sexiness instead of a super high fashion look . Former British Victoria's Secret alumni include Karen Elson and Naomi Campbell.

Other featured models were ( from left to right) the current faces of Next Clothing, Brazilian models, Emanuela de Paula and Alessandra Ambrosio.(far right) Noemie Lenoir who has recently done campaigns for Marks & Spencers also walked the catwalk.

Designers Viktor & Rolf skipped Paris fashion week this year and instead thy hosted an online fashion show. The fashion show featured models Shalom Harlow, Shalom Harlow and …..Shalom Harlow. This is not a typo. 34 year old Canadian born model, Shalom was the only model in the show but thanks to some digital editing, the show looked like several Shalom-clones took the runway. The clothes are very beautiful and its nice to see a model that doesnt look "12 years old" on the runway.

This weekend I attended a two day fashion exhibition called Facshion (pronounced faction). Buyers and press and the general public were there in abundance. I was actually impressed by the turnout and some of the designers were quite impressive particularly Edie rocks, Steven Harkin, DeedamG and Jeminee Solanki . As usual I have photos from the event thanks to photographers Andy Espin and Tarvo Raun. Here are some of the photos from the event. On August 31st Andrew Christian hosted a fashion show for his new "Black Line". 3,000 people were part of the sell-out-crowd at Circus Disco.
With the debut of his new upscale line "Black by Andrew Christian" Andrew Christian has proven once again that the fashion elites better make room for Andrew Christian. "Black by Andrew Christian" takes you inside Andrew’s own personal closet and allows you to purchase some of the exact same things Andrew has designed and produced exclusively for himself…and now you too. I think the designs are really clean cut and sleek.
"Black by Andrew Christian" showcases button down shirts, both long and short sleeve, vests and matching pants. Also included in the line are some of the new jewelry Andrew has designed for himself and others.
"I have spent the past 7 years making men feel good in underwear and swimsuits," says Andrew Christian, "It was only logical that I begin to make men look good on the outside. With the Black line, I wanted to give men something that not only looked good on them but was something they would want to wear and be seen in. With this line, if I don’t have it in my closet at home, it’s not included in this line."

Aaron Ray Dowie, Beauty Confessional, beautyconfessional, Fashion Shows, Menswear
In an earlier post I promised some pictures and a review of a London fashion event i attended called, Style Me Up. So here I go. Overall the event was a success, It started a bit later than expected but you know the fashion crowd, everyone has to arrive "fashionably late" and take a million photos. It was all fun, I met some awesome people and the atmosphere in the club was really good. I will probably visit Clerkenwell House again.
When the Fashion Showcase started there was a very strong crowd. The showcase kicked off with a collection by Xaverie. She described her collection as "Afro punk".Her collection was mainly casual wear and the clothes were a combination of modern cuts and afro-prints. There were some nice rumper suits and she also had some really innovative linen hooded shirts.
The second designer was Aaron Ray Dowie. Now don't get me wrong but Menswear usually isn't as exciting as it female counterpart. However, Aaron stole the show and proved me wrong. His designs were innovative, quirky, fun and fresh. I could so imagine Pharell Williams or Justin Timberlake wearing Aaron's clothes. I cant even pick a favorite from his collection, because I liked everything he did . In addition to the suits he had some awesome Trench Coats. An interesting fact to note, is that Aaron sews all of his clothes. Definitely my Favorite of the night.
There was a short break and Two singers came to entertain. the first was Grace Obika, her sound was a cross between R&B and old school soul. She kind of reminded me of Solange Knowles new song " I decided". The second artist was Tina Marie. Her sound was described as experimental Indie Pop. Now experimental Indie pop isn't usually the type of music I listen to but this girl had an AMAZING VOICE!!! She sure had some amazing vocals!!

The Third Designer was DAKOU. She described her collection as Afro Centric / Bohemian Chic. I saw this collection at Wimbledon Fashion Week and I still liked it second time around. Some really cute, fun and fresh looking styles. The men's shirts were also good.
The Fourth designer was Danielle Morgan. Clothes were very fashion forward. Over sized sleeves were coupled with puffed legs. Some of the dresses had Victorian portraits around the hemline while others had iconic figures such as 'Nelson Mandela".
Last collection was Simone Williams. Her collection was classic cocktail wear.In two words her collection was "PURE SOPHISTICATION".
After the shows ended everyone mingled and partied the night away!!!!
