I always get an excited tingly feeling when I see new  clothes from River Island. River Island is my not so secret obsession. These are the first images from the River Island Spring Summer 2010 look book and once again I am loving what im seeing. the military trend that dominated 2009 isn't  present in this collection. instead it is replaced by an almost preppy throwback to the late 1960's. I can't wait for this to hit stores.

Could this  be the new statement  outfit for pregnant fashionistas? If Jean Paul Gaultier has his way it just might be.  At  his Spring Summer 2010 show at Paris fashion week he dressed  pregnant supermodel Jourdan Dunn in this  domed  creation. Its like  a colaboration between maternity wear and Madonna’s iconic Cone bra.

Am I the only one seeing the similarity?

Topshop   has chosen to go for a shabby chic look for their Autumn Winter 2009 2010 collection. They have paired  glamorous faux fur coats with tights that have runs in them.  The collection ranges from £45 to £150 and includes slinky dresses, pencil skirts, strapless dresses, jumpsuits, chiffon kaftans. Some of the pieces also include studs,  one of this seasons biggest trends.

Topshops Autumn/Winter Lookbook is bang on trend. It draws influence from the shiny sequined creations of Balmain and the fur coats of Dolce & Gabanna. The shoes in the colleaction are very high and mirror the  shoe trends that were on the Autmn Winter catwalks during fashion week.  Their are even a pair of thigh high boots reminiscent of the thigh high boots madonna wears in the latest Louis Vuitton campaign.

The collection also reminds me a bit of River Islands Autumn Winter 09 collection. Both have similar trends but  unique interpretations. Which high street stores Autumn/Winter collection do you prefer?

These images are from Neil Barrett's  Spring Summer 2010 collection. The show confirmed  a trend that I had noticed in the menswear hows in Milan.
Sleeves are so passe in Spring Summer 2010.
I swear in every menswear show i see  lots of sleeveless shirts. It seems arms are the big trend of 2010 menswear. It might be too late to get  nice toned set of guns for this Summer but there is still enough time to beef up by 2010. So before it gets too late I so need to hire a personal trainer!!!

As well as featuring lots of sleeveless shirts the Neil Barrett S/S 2010  collection had a very masculine feel with long shirts. Black white and earth tones were the main colours in the collection. The whole collection seems inspired by fencing from the cuts of the jackets to the knee  length pants. They are reminescent of fencing breeches and jackets.

The Burberry Spring Summer 2010 menswear show just took place in Milan. Christopher Bailey has gone for a very functional collection. Lots of pale blues, beige's and yellows. In this collection Christopher  Bailey also used lots  of straps hanging around the waistline . I like the collection but I am not a hundred percent sold on the straps trend as I cant imagine it on any guy that isn't thin or doesn't look like a supermodel.On another note I really do like the vintage style chelsea boots and coats.

The Bless Duo- Fringed Glasses really are getting popular. Ever since Beyonce wore Fringed Glasses in her Diva music video they have been popping up everywhere.

The most recent place  I have seen fringed glasses was in an editorial for L'officiel Homme. Sean O'Pry was photographed by Milan Vukmirovic wearing a pair of fringed glasses. These glasses are a bit more extravagant than the Beyonce version as they have got even longer chains ( and are practically unwearable).  I am not sure if the Bless Duo made these glasses but I expect to see loads of people wearing these glasses this summer as I think they are this years statement glasses.

Vivienne Westwood  and Melissa Shoes have teamed up to create a collection of Eco-friendly shoes. Usually Eco-friendly means wearing PVC shoes  or Crocs!!!!!! However Melissa has created a special material called  called Melflex ,that has characteristics which provide improved elasticity, impermeability and resistance. Its formula contains products which are hypoallergenic and 100% safe to your health. It is odorless, neutral and natural.

R&B/ Pop songstress, Ciara has released a new music video  with Justin Timberlake called "Love Sex Magic" and shes looking more "Sasha Fierce" than Beyonce. She even wears a pair of  metal glasses. It seems that statement eyewear is here to stay. Shes the third celeb along with Kanye and Beyonce to wear statement eyewear in their music video's. Expect to see loads of people wearing statement glasses that look cool but obscure your vision.

Everyone remembers When Kanye West popularized Shutter Shades. When his Video for "Stronger" hit Music channels he brought shutter shades into the mainstream in a Huge way. Beyonce recently wore a pair of Fringed shades in her "Diva" music video  and from the time I saw the video i knew these shades would be  Super Popular in Spring /Summer 2009.

The shades to the right are  by Berlin-based design company BLESS and cost £188.10 or $273.00 at Colette.

Velvet is in for Menwear in in Fall/ Winter 2009! Anyone who  has been following fashion week can tell you that its true  Velvet will be the  big trend in menwear this year. Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Burbery and Giorgio Armani used velvet and velour(a fabric with the rich look of velvet but  more stretchy) in a variety of ways in their collections.

As we all know Fashion trends usually trickle down from fashion week and the High street stores gain inspiration from the big designers when they are developing their clothing ranges. So expect lots of Fashion week inspired looks in the high street stores later this year.

Men's fashion week is currently going on in Milan.  Here are some pics from British design house Burberry. Burberry has gone back to basics with classic cuts, trench coats pinstrips and plaid. Its very reminiscent of their aestetique in the 90's. Also of note was Burberry's usage of little neck ties that almost looked like victorian style cravats. I definitely think Designer Christopher Bailey has delivered with this collection.

Hugo Boss can now be added to the list of Fashion houses to collaborate with phone manufacturers.

Prada and Giorgio Armani have both previously  released branded phones. For this collaboration Hugo Boss teamed up with Samsung. The new Hugo Boss Handset is based on the The new Hugo Boss  phone is based on the Samsung F480 handset. The phone will retail for 479€ (or about £460/$677). Its a great cross promotion for both companies. However,  as the phone is almost identical to the F480 this phone is only worth getting if you want a luxury branded cell phone.

The specs are as follows: 5 mpx camera, 2.8″ touchscreen, 3G/HSDPA connectivity

Kanye West popularised  the  Shutter Shades in his music video for ‘Stronger’. After that everyone was wearing shutter shades. Last weekend  NYmag spotted Beyonce wearing a pair of carwash shades in the new  music video for her single “Diva”.  I wonder if Sasha Fierce/ Beyonce will have the same effect as Kanye and  rocket Car wash shades into the fashion mainstream . Only the  future will tell if these sunglasses will become the new  popular  fashion accessory.

Aussiebum is releasing a limited edition line of mens underwear with glow in the dark waistbands. The "glo" line will come in 4 neon colours and will debut in stores on October 24th.

I dont think this is a trend that will stick around but its definitely cool.
